Congratulations on the Successful Opening Ceremony of Mazu Taihang (Cambodia) Law Firm!

The opening ceremony of MAZU TAIHANG (CAMBODIA) LAW FIRM was held in the capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh, at 10:00 a.m. on July 2, 2025. His Excellency Ly Chantola, Secretary of State of the Cambodian Prime Minister's Office, Secretary-General of the Legal Reform Steering Committee, and President of the Bar Association of Cambodia for the 13th/14th mandates, attended and presided over the event. Director of Zhejiang Taihang Law Firm, Mr Wang Zheng; Party Branch Secretary of Taihang Law Firm, Mr Shen Jie; Deputy Director, Mr Zhang Feng; Deputy Director of the Foreign-related Legal Affairs Department, Ms Zhang Zhiyue; and nearly a hundred representatives of Chinese enterprises and elites from the political, business, and legal circles of both China and Cambodia gathered together to witness this important moment of the beginning of China-Cambodia cross-border legal collaboration.

Dance of Blessing: A Cultural Bond Symbolising Development Aspirations

The opening ceremony commenced with the solemn national anthem of Cambodia, followed by a splendid performance of the traditional Cambodian "Dance of Blessing." Dressed in magnificent traditional costumes, the dancers expressed their heartfelt wishes through graceful movements for the prosperity of Mazu Taihang Law Firm and the enduring vitality of China-Cambodia rule-of-law communications.

Mr Chen Bo'an, Founding President of the Cambodia Mazu Federation, President of the Cambodia Mazu Charity Foundation, and Founder of Mazu Taihang (Cambodia) Law Firm, delivered the welcome address. President Chen noted that to better serve investors, the Mazu Federation decided to jointly establish Mazu Taihang (Cambodia) Law Firm with Taihang Law Firm. As an associated law firm, Mazu Taihang will operate in compliance with Cambodian law, maintain its independence, and consistently uphold the principles of "Truth, Ethics, and Excellence," focusing on serving China-Cambodia economic and trade exchanges and providing professional legal services for Chinese enterprises investing in Cambodia's construction, real estate, manufacturing, finance/capital and other sectors.

Dr Wang Zheng, Director of Zhejiang Taihang Law Firm and Co-founder of Mazu Taihang (Cambodia) Law Firm, delivered the welcome address. Director Wang Zheng first extended a warm welcome and his sincerest gratitude to the leaders and friends from every sector attending the ceremony. He noted that Mazu Taihang Law Firm is the first China-Cambodia associated law firm established under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, with the principles of "extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits," striving to serve as the "legal bond" of China-Cambodia cooperation. He then put forward three proposals for the firm’s future development: First, standing on the economic and trade needs of both countries, relying on the China-Cambodia bilateral investment agreements and regional cooperation mechanisms, providing full-cycle legal support for Chinese enterprises investing in Cambodia. Second, to promote corporate compliance operations and localised development. Mazu Taihang will provide one-stop integrated systems services for the legal, financial and tax sectors, assisting Chinese enterprises to deeply integrate into the Cambodian market, abide by local laws and culture, and achieve the sustainable development goals of "steady progress, roots deep and long-term growth." Third, to serve Cambodia's socio-economic development, Mazu Taihang Law Firm will rely on the resources of Taihang's China headquarters and Taihang's global legal service network, and combine with Mazu Taihang's local resources to empower industrial investment, infrastructure development, and livelihood projects through legal services, helping to enhance Cambodia’s business environment and sharing the dividends of development. Finally, he extended his best wishes for Mazu Taihang Law Firm to flourish and achieve enduring prosperity.

H. E. Ly Chantola, Secretary of State of the Cambodian Prime Minister's Office, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the Law Reform Steering Committee and President of the Bar Association of Cambodia for the 13th/14th mandates, delivered the speech. H.E. Ly stated that building on the achievements of the Triangular and Rectangular Strategies, Cambodia will continue to advance the Pentagonal Strategy to achieve the 2050 Vision, and the Pentagonal Strategy will drive Cambodia's modernisation and investment growth. Mazu Taihang Law Firm, as an associated law firm between China and Cambodia, presents a strong response to Cambodia's national strategy. In this regard, he fully endorsed the three proposals put forward by Director Wang Zheng and expressed his hope that Mazu Taihang Law Firm would enhance judicial transparency and efficiency through legal training courses and thematic seminars, further attracting international investment to support Cambodia's economic development. At last, he wished all guests good health and prosperous endeavours.

Guests held golden scissors and jointly cut the ribbon for the firm's opening. As confetti fluttered down, enthusiastic applause and cheers erupted, capturing a historic moment — the official opening of Mazu Taihang (Cambodia) Law Firm.

The establishment of Mazu Taihang is not only a milestone in the cooperation of legal practice between the two countries but also a vivid crystallisation of the brotherly friendship between China and Cambodia. Now, Mazu Taihang has built a legal bridge spanning national borders, providing professional and stable rule-of-law safeguards for economic and trade cooperation along the Belt and Road. In the future, with professionalism as its vessel and credibility as its sail, Mazu Taihang will forge ahead on the course of the Belt and Road, authoring a new chapter in China-Cambodia transnational legal cooperation, creating value for the enterprises of both nations, and enhancing the well-being of both peoples!
